With 60 stories and 1,203,177 square feet this 871-foot-tall NationsBank Corporate Center was the largest office building in the Southeast when it opened in May 1992 and has dramatically altered Charlotte's skyline. Founder's Hall, a six story glass enclosure of 75,000 square feet of space for retail stores, fine and casual dining, first class health club and events and entertainment adjoins the Corporate Center. Also adjoining the corporate Center is the Blumenthal Performing arts center which we just visited.

Don't miss the fresco by renowned artist, Ben Long, inside the lobby of the NationsBank Corporate Center.

NationsBank is a superregional bank (in the South) and a national presence, with more than 2,000 locations in 34 states. It provides commercial and retail banking services and also operates globally from offices in Colombia, Germany, Singapore, the UK, and other countries. NationsBank also offers investment and brokerage services, insurance, and mutual funds. The bank has expanded aggressively through acquisitions, usually setting its sights on bargain buys, but it has also gone after bigger targets, including Atlanta-based Bank South.

Our other major bank headquartered in Charlotte is First Union. Let's visit the First Union Center.
